Where to go at Lake Iseo and the surroundings:  On the following pages you will get useful information about Sarnico, Predore, Tavernola, Riva di Solto, Castro, Lovere, Bossico, Pisogne, Marone, Sale Marasino, Monte Isola, Sulzano, Iseo, Clusane, Paratico, Passirano, Brescia and Bergamo.

Lake Iseo (Lago d’Iseo) or Sebino, located in Northern Italy between Lake Come and Lake Garda, and very close to Milan and Verona, is the fourth largest lake in the Lombardy region. It isfed by the Oglio river and has its very own wonderful charisma. The lake is almost equally divided between the Provinces of Bergamo and Brescia. To the south, the Po valley spreads out, in the north the lake is framed by mountains.  The lake with its lush green mountains surrounding the crystal clear lake is still a hidden champion, an area of outstanding natural beauty. The water is perfect for swimming but as well for other kind of water sports like sailing, windsurfing or wakeboarding.  A tour around the lake is a great idea to discover the area. Many small towns and the Monte Isola Island (Montisola) display the typical Mediterranean charm, that many Europeans appreciate and love so much.

The larger towns are Iseo itself, Sarnico and Lovere. Take a break at one of the many bars or cafes to enjoy the atmosphere or even stay overnight in one of the hotels, B&B’s in town or campsites run alongside the lakeshore.  This beautiful area is dotted with medieval buildings, churches, palaces, villas, castles and historical buildings, which are witnesses of a well-preserved rural and urban architecture.  Monte Isola (or Montisola) is the biggest lake island Central Europe. There is ferry service available on a regular basis.  The Franciacorta wine region, with its 109 wine cellars, just minutes away from the lake, produces some of the world’s finest sparkling wines and white and red wines of excellent quality and taste.
